My Favorite FireFox Add-ons For Web Designers

October 2nd, 2011

My job as an Interactive Designer requires me to spend a lot of time on the computer designing and writing code, and making interactive recommendations. I take full advantage of the amazing Add-ons FireFox has available. Here are some of my favorites:

MeasureIt
Have you ever wanted to find out how many pixels wide or high something is on your screen? This Add-On allows you to do just that.

ColorZilla
ColorZilla is an eyedropper tool for the internet. It provides you with the rgb or hex of any color on the screen. The tool also includes easy to use ‘click to copy’ functionality.

ShowIP
This Add-On displays the IP address of the current page you are on. You can then right-and left-click on the icon to look up whois information on the domain and IP address.

FireBug
FireBug, allows you to debug css, html and JavaScript. You can also find out important information about a website’s network activity.

Web Developer Toolbar
The Web Developer Toolbar is a web designer’s secret weapon. It has a lot of really cool features, but I love how it allows you to edit css on the fly, and will automatically re-size your browser to specific dimensions.
